For May, Sassy Girls Book Expo has caught up with Leaona Luxx, author of For one Night, for a quick interview.  Leaona (LEE-aw-na) Luxx is a wife, a mother of three sons and mother in law to three amazing women. Raised in Southern WV, Lea was inspired to write while she raised her family, never dreaming one day, she would be published. While loving all genres of books, Lea writes contemporary romance best described as gritty and true to life. She draws from her life and loves to create her characters from everyday situations, proving everyone can be redeemed.
Leaona released her first book in June 2016 upon the encouragement of her father, who passed away before seeing her dream brought to life. Her Redeeming Romances are all stand-alones with interconnected family and friends. She’ll be chatting about herself and her work.
Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
A: Early in life, I always made up my own stories and acted them out. I’m dyslexic, so I was never encouraged to put them on paper.
Q: How long does it take you to write a book?
A: 7-10 days unless I have nothing else going on, then it’s usually 5-7.
Q: What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
A: 4-5 am until 12-1 am. I don’t sleep well, so I write.
Q: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
A: The story plays like a movie, but it’s hard to put it on pause. It also makes it easy when it comes to edits, I rarely have content edits.
Q: How do books get published?
A: Wow. Let’s see, tears and blood of my first born!! Haha! I have my blurb and cover before I ever write a word. I’m a panster, so I really don’t know where the story is going until they take me there. After I’m finished, we edit and upload to all platforms!! I had NO help with my first book!! I was a hot mess!!
Q: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
A: Life!! Sometimes, I’m happy to say what I’ve drawn from for a story, but I’ve taken a few shots over my first book, so I keep things close now.
Q: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
A: Seven!! Forty-four years ago!!
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
A: Spend time with my family!! Our sons are grown, so every second e can get with them, we do!! They’re great people!!
Q: What does your family think of your writing?
A: My husband supports me so much so, I go nowhere without him!! All of my children follow me on social media also…they actually setup all of my accounts when I got started!! My oldest daughter in law was the first person to read my first book, and my sons picked my pen name. It’s derived from my middle name and my husband’s initials.
Q: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
A: That you can show up late, look different, be unusual, and still make it!!
Q: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
A: Many but I’ve only published 10. I can’t pick one, but I will say Wrecking Us Saving You was the most cathartic.
Q: Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
A: Keep writing!! Write what you know!! Listen to your characters!! And NEVER let anyone tell you how to write!! Also, find an editor that loves the way you write and will never change it!!
Q: Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
A: ALL THE TIME!!! I love it!! I had one tell me if I wrote a certain character she would never read it!! She LOVED it!!
Q: What do you think makes a good story?
A: Keeping it real. Keeping it light. Smiling.
Q: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
A: Be a mom.

About the Book:

One night, that’s all this was supposed to be.

I came to Sin City with my best friend to celebrate my much-needed divorce. For once, I want to be the one with no care about tomorrow.

That’s when he catches my eye. I watch as he works the room and the women in it. He’s everything I hate in a man, but the epitome of what we all want. Sexy, confident to a fault, and a smirk that will melt your panties.

He’s everything my ex-husband is.

As our eyes meet, I decide to give him a dose of his own medicine and show him how it feels to be used. Tonight, I’ll be the woman everyone stares at when she enters the room. The one I am in the boardroom who takes no prisoners.

I’ll be the one to bring him to his knees and leave him just as fast.

For one night, I’ll be that woman.

Read an excerpt of For One Night:

Heat burns deep, as a frenzied desire takes over my good senses. She wets her lips, and my pulse is off to the races. I stride across the room, making it to her within three steps.

I lay my hand around the soft skin of her neck, tangling my fingers in her dark hair, dragging her scent in like a wild animal on the hunt. Her beauty intoxicates me, but it’s what she’s hiding from me that ignites this desire in my soul.

“Your beauty is beguiling; I’m lost in you.”

Her breath hitches, jutting her breast out. “I-I should…”

“No, wait. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have been so forward.” I run my thumb over her bottom lip, and Lola’s eyes flicker to mine.

“Yes, you should be.” I can’t take it, there’s no way I can let her go.

I slide my free hand to the small of her back, drawing her to me. I brush her lips with mine, asking for permission, but knowing I’ll take them whether she agrees or not. Our gaze locks, my lips on hers as soon they part.

I run my tongue over hers, tasting and savoring everything about her. I try to control myself, but I’m drunk on her elixir. My fingers tingle with her beneath them, driving me insane with want.

She melts into me as I respond to her, relishing every touch of her body with my hands. Lola moans when I press her back against the window, parting her legs further with my own.

I grip her wrists in my hand, holding them high as I groan directions in her ear. “Turn, face the window.” I dig my fingers into her hip, spinning her quickly, and pinning her to the window.

Placing her hands above her head, I spread mine over them, pressing. “Stay.” I sweep my lips over her lobe, whispering. My hands trail down her body, feeling her up as I go. My fingertips trace her forearm, over the side of her breasts before cupping them and groping her until I elicit a whimper.

“You are one helluva woman, Lola.” Her heads lulls, resting against my shoulder. I continue my path down her body, sliding them to the center, tracing her belly button, and over her pussy. She’s hot, rewarding her with a groan of my own.

“Whatever man made you feel less is a fucking fool.” I nip her ear as I lean down, gripping the hem of her dress in my hand. I trail my fingers up her thigh, dragging the material with them.

When I get to her the tops of her hips, I pull fast and hard, yanking the dress overhead and off her body. I drop it to the floor and press my body against hers, pinning her to the window. Her head rests on my shoulder, her eyes closed, savoring my every touch.

I stare at her image in the window; even the lights outside don’t shine as bright as she does. Her curves, like that of an hourglass, helping her to spill from her bra and panties. My cock hardens as I imprint her to my memory, staining my soul with all that is Lola.

“You are the most desirable woman I have ever laid eyes on. I want to fuck you here, where everyone can see me ruining you for any other man.” Her body quivers as my words sweep over her.

My hand drifts to her throat, wrapping it in them and slides up to her chin. I tilt her head, nipping her just below her ear. I run my tongue over it, kissing it softly after. She bucks into me, provoking my desire for her and the need to make her mine.

“I can’t decide how I should take you, Lola,” I say as my lips trace her jaw.

Her heart pounds against my chest as she whimpers, “Hard and fast. There’s time for slow later.”

The slightest thought of having more than once incites my craving for her, driving me mad. I step aside, catching her as she loses her balance. She clutches my shirt, holding on to me.

I’ve never wanted anything more.

I sweep her legs from under her and carry her to the bed. Tossing her, she giggles as she lands on her back. Her hair flies chaotically around her as her breasts bounce, revealing her nipples.

Her eyes are hooded when she peers up at me, smoldering with wantonness. “Are you going to stand there gawking?”

“I’m thinking about it.” I rub my finger over my lips, feeling the heat still there from hers. “I’m also thinking about climbing between those creamy thighs.”

She opens her legs, running her hand from her panties to her breasts. “Is it that hard of a decision?”

“The thing is, Lola,”—I saunter to the end of the bed, grasping her ankles—“I can do both and enjoy you longer.” I yank on her legs, pulling her to me.

She giggles, sounding as sultry as she looks. “Have you ever heard of seizing the moment?”

“Much like delayed gratification.” I smirk as she bites her lip.

“I’d prefer instant over delayed.”

I reach for my zipper. “Take off your panties, Lola.”

“Why would I do that, when I have you here for it.” She licks her lips.

“Because I’m going to give you exactly what you want.” I grip my shirt, popping the buttons from it as I rip it open.

She hooks the side of the lace, dragging them down her legs. Dropping my shirt, I unbutton my pants and let them fall. I place a knee on the bed between her feet. I slide my arm under her, picking her up as we climb up the bed.

Lola glances down between us, and her eyes snap back to mine. “Condom.”

“Always.” I stretch over her, rubbing my cock over her pussy. Her breath hitches as I take the foil wrapper from the nightstand.

She grips it between her fingers, as she pulls my mouth to hers. I’m lost in the supple feel of her lips against mine, barely registering the rip of the package. She reaches down, fisting me in her hand as her mouth forms a perfect O.

“Let’s get this on. The wait is about to kill me.” She rolls the rubber down with fire in her eyes.

My fingers dig into her thigh as I hitch her leg around my hip. “Baby, that’s not how I plan on doing it.”

A slamming door rattles me from my drunken state. I peel my lids back only to have to shut them from the sun streaming through the window. I rouse, reaching for the warm body behind me. I find nothing but a warm and empty bed. I sit up, squinting as I look toward the bathroom. The doors open. I stand and grab my pants. I check the room out to find it vacant.

“What the actual fuck?” I take the room key and hit the door running. Punching the elevator multiple times, wishing it would open faster, I grumble, “Seriously, I ditch them.”

The doors open, and I step through, hitting the lobby button and sliding my pants on. I run my hands through my hair and check my breath; it’s atrocious. “Fuck! I need a mint.” I whip through the door as soon as it begins to part, hurrying to the reception desk. “Mint?” The blonde hands me one. “Curvy. Brunette. Just came down?”

“She called for a cab.” She points toward the door.

I haul ass, yelling as I do. “Thanks!” I burst through the entrance onto the sidewalk, searching for her. At the end of the drive, she’s getting into a Yellow Cab. I sprint, catching the door before she can shut it. “What in the hell, woman?”

She peers up at me with a devious grin. “Thanks.” She shrugs.

“Come again?” My mouth gapes.

“I had a great time.”

“You’re kidding me?” I ask as my eyes widen. “You’re ditching me?”

She bites her full bottom lip, driving everything south of my zipper wild and my mind insane.

“I appreciate the multiple orgasms.”

“You’re leaving, and that’s all you have to say?”

“I’m sorry, did you think this would go any further?” My mouth drops again. “Oh, you did. It’s a one-night stand, that’s it. You’ll be okay, I promise.” She shuts the door, and the cab pulls away.

“What the fuck just happened?” I scratch my head. “Who in the hell was she?”
